for some reason i like to create competition. a week ago, i was in a stationary store killing time before a restaurant week dinner invite and i happened upon a deck of cards called the puzzle master - will shortz' mind bogglers. it took me a couple seconds to solve the puzzle on the back of the deck so i decided to purchase the deck in case for some reason the conversation at dinner was lacking...
of course, i forgot about the deck and they've been sitting in a bag in my room for the past week. fast forward to last night, i randomly remember that i still had the deck and tried to explain the puzzle to my friends. of course i butcher the puzzle i'm referring to but generate some interest. we decide to have a mind boggler's competition where i will be sending a puzzle from the deck out via email once a day. if a person gets it right, they get a point. i'll be keeping track of points and every so often, i'll be giving a prize out.
and since i'm such a freak, i created an excel spreadsheet of the point totals. i thought i'd share that here...
| Mind Boggler Number | |||||||||
| Participants | Total Points | P1 | P2 | P3 | P4 | P5 | P6 | P7 | P8 |
| turtle | 1 | 1 | |||||||
| drunk gf | 1 | 1 | |||||||
| drama | 0 | ||||||||
| e | 0 | ||||||||
so that is my story on competition creation. hope you enjoyed it.
in conclusion, the puzzle on the back of the deck was:
add two letters to the word REVISITING and rearrange the result to name one of the 50 us states. which one is it?
